A candy buffet can be the highlight of your wedding reception, which is why it's so important to make your display as beautiful and creative as possible. Ideally, you want to arrange the display in a way that will make the guests rush over to the table--but not before they snap a few photos of your impressive spread.
Instructions
- 1
Cover the buffet table with a fresh, clean, ironed tablecloth. A simple white or cream tablecloth always looks classic, and will provide a good background for the candy to pop against. Consider arranging your candy buffet on a round table rather than a long rectangular one so your guests can approach it from all sides.
2Add drama by creating a tiered display. To do this, simply pile sturdy boxes beneath the tablecloth so that the highest point is in the center of the table. Play around with the boxes until you're pleased with the composition, then replace the tablecloth. Smooth all of the surfaces and use double-sided tape to stick the underside of the fabric to the boxes if necessary.
3Arrange your candy containers and platters on the table one by one. You'll want to get an idea of how the table should look before you actually add candy to the vessels. Arrange the containers by size or height, placing the smaller or shorter ones near the front of the table. If you're using any flat trays, make sure they're not blocked by taller containers.
4Fill each container with candy, starting in the center or back of the table and working your way out. If you've chosen a specific color palette for your buffet, you'll want to arrange the candy so that the colors are evenly distributed throughout the display. Place containers of brighter candies near chocolates and other neutral-colored candies to keep any one area from looking dull.
5Place gold or silver candy scoops in any containers filled with unwrapped candy.
6Fill a basket with empty cellophane favor bags and place it on one end of the buffet table. You'll also want to supply ribbon to tie the bags closed as well as a marking pen for labeling. Guests can then create their own candy bags to take home from the reception.
