How to Build a Night Table

For most of us, building a piece of furniture ends up becoming either a complete headache or a mile-marking triumph. It seems the dividing line between the two is how closely the directions are followed. Even building a night stand takes time to prepare, count, separate and follow. These are important keys in finding success in your project and may possibly determine how well your night stand is put together.

Instructions

    1

Open the box the night stand is in. Be sure not to cut into the wood if you decide to use a cutting tool like a knife or razor.

    2

Find the directions and look for the hardware page. Make sure you have all the required hardware for the night stand. If any pieces are missing or accidental duplicates, take the time now to address the problem. It will save you a lot of frustration later when you can't finish the project.

    3

Separate the pieces of wood and hardware. Identify each piece and set it aside in an orderly fashion, such as alphabetical, so you know where it is when you need it.

    4

Follow the directions to the smallest detail. Skipping any part, no matter how seemingly irrelevant at the time, will have consequences to some degree later on.

    5

Ask for help if something doesn't make sense or if you run into a problem. Most directions will include a toll-free number for help.
