How to Dress a Table for a Christmas Dinner

How to Dress a Table for a Christmas Dinner

Whether you're entertaining a large group or just trying to create a special evening for two, dressing up the table for Christmas dinner can make for a memorable holiday. You can decorate with all kinds of things, ranging from the tablecloth right down to the place settings. Choose any theme you like, whether it be elegant or rustic or festive; it all depends on your personal taste. With a little creativity and a few ideas, your guests will long remember this Christmas. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Use a tablecloth with vibrant colors that fit the holiday season, such as red, green and gold to immediately create a festive atmosphere; or go with a classic look and dress the table with an elegant white or cream cloth. You might even forgo the tablecloth altogether if you have an elegant or rustic table to create an old-fashioned down-home Christmas atmosphere.

    2

Place miniature Christmas trees or pine cones in the center of the table. Drape pine branches over any hanging lights in the room. Place branches of holly or evergreen trees in vases to decorate the center of the table.

    3

Add some candles to give your table warmth. Use tall candles for an elegant look. Choose a color to complement the hues of the tablecloth and plants you have chosen. Red, green or white make good choices for a Christmas meal.

    4

Create place settings such as a gold-rimmed plate and a pine cone in the center, or a napkin wrapped with a ribbon tied to a jingle bell for a festive feel. Place a name card on or next to the plate with the person's name and perhaps a Christmas symbol on it. Or, place a small, elegantly wrapped gift in the center of the plate to get guests in the Christmas spirit. You might also attach a name card to a gilded pine cone or an individual glowing candle.
