How to Build an Accent Table

Choose an accent table style that compliments your home decor and fits your space. Look around at the options in local furniture stores to get an idea of what you like, and use that inspiration to design a table you'll be pleased with for a long time to come.

Take the measurements of the area where you'll place your accent table. Use those measurements to determine how large you should make it.

Cut your table legs or purchase stock table legs from a home improvement retailer. Use at least 3 legs for smaller tables and 4 for large tables.

Measure and cut the top of your table to size.

Sand, then stain or paint your table top and table legs. Allow them to dry thoroughly before you assemble your accent table.

Screw the legs into the table top. Make sure your screws aren't long enough to go all the way through the table top.

Check to make sure your table is level and adjust the legs if necessary.

Touch up any scratches or knicks in the paint or stain that may have occurred during assembly.
